2018 saw Jacon turn 40. It was 40 years ago, founders of Jacon, Jan and Connie, decided to buy a few old lathes, mills, and drills to start a company at their home garage manufacturing spare parts for local concrete pumps and then started to repair the concrete pumps. It wasn’t long before they were busy and 2 years later they decided rent a small factory nearby their house on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia.
In 1983, Eric Rutten, now CEO of the Jacon Group, completed his Engineering studies and has been managing the business since the age of 27. Back in these early days, Eric used to take order confirmation by phone and he would start the job. Eric’s drawings were hand sketches. He would cut the steel, machine the parts, assemble the trucks, paint, do the wiring, hydraulics, then commission and train the operators all by himself.
In 2018 Jacon Group underwent a transformational year. We started 2018 with a family of 50 staff based in Sydney, Australia and ended the year with 7 locations across 5 countries and 300 staff. On 26th October 2018, Jacon celebrated its 40th anniversary with members of the Jacon staff, families and long term business partners who have become good friends over the years. Long serving employees were also awarded on the night in appreciation for their exceptional service.
We’ve come a long way and none of these would have been possible without the commitment and continued support of our employees and clients.
Cheers to more exciting times ahead, the best has yet to come!
